Avalon Beverly Hills

I'm back in LA for another trip and it seems that I'm doing a Kelly Wearstler tour of the city  (unconsciously of course, however I was at the Viceroy last time in town and it seems that she has an inside track to designing all of their hotels).  This time I'm staying at the lovely Avalon Hotel Beverly Hills - a true step back to the old Hollywood we all think of.  The buildings are mid-century and the chic interiors by Wearstler that have a cool grey, mint green and brass theme help make the space calming and serene.  Her choice of materials is puled through the entire project with marbles, specialty plasters and linens throughout the restaurant, lobby and rooms.  Although there is still the feel of a fifties hotel (the main building of the hotel is centred around a pool with balconies overlooking the triple height space), the hotel has a nice upbeat feel that is very current to today. Definitely worth a stay if you are in the area!
