Graphic and decorative floors are making a comeback - especially encaustic tiles. They were frequently found in the Victorian era and are made by combining a variety of different colours of clay in a pattern to form a single tile. The result is pattern and colour within a tile that will not wear down over time as it's intrinsic to the tiles make-up. I love the juxtaposition of this traditional architectural feature paired with modern furnishings.
