An Inspiring 2013

Well, let me start off by saying Happy New Year to you all! I am sorry for the delayed message (you can still say it even on the 4th right?), but as you all know holiday are crazy times with family and friends and life just seems to take over sometimes.  We had a wonderful time in Toronto visiting friends, trying new restaurants and enjoying the snow.  Back to work this week and things are in full swing.  I have a couple of projects installing here in Manhattan in March/April and so it is the last push to get all the details done on any outstanding items and start thinking about accessories. I have been pinning quite a bit lately and thought that I would start the year off with a little Pinterest inspiration!

I hope you all had a truly wonderful holiday season and here is to a very lucky 2013!

The work of Russian photographer Andre Ermolaev have been floating around lately, and with good reason.  He has some truly incredible photos taken over Iceland and I just find them mesmerizing. Here are a few to get you excited, but to see the complete series click here.

Some of my Favorites

It has been a while since I shared some of my favorite pins with all of you, and I thought that today was a good a day as any.  My series on Photographers last week really got me inspired by interiors of all kinds and has got the creative juices flowing.  There are some exciting things on the horizon here at  Canoe Design that I cannot wait to share with all of you.   I am also so thrilled to be included in the Modenus top 100 Interior Design Blogs with some truly inspiring people, so if you feel so inclined come on over and give us a thumbs up - there are only 9 days left to vote!  Well that is all for now, but enjoy the wonderful images below and let me know what you think...there seems to be a theme to them, it must be the time of year.

Enjoy!

Another Inspiring Year

Happy Thursday everyone, and a Happy Birthday to me! Yup, another year has gone by and what a year it has been! I got married, moved to Manhattan and started a blog.  My project of finding an avenue to write and showcase all of my design ideas/thoughts/inspiration has been a truly enjoyable one and I can honestly say it has given me a different way of looking at this crazy world of design we live and breath.  I have made some incredible connections and really feel honored to be part of this amazing community, and am so grateful to all my readers who continuously motivate, inspire and humble me - Thank you! Canoe Design might not be one of the superblogs, however it is a super blog to me and I am proud of what I have accomplished.  I love each and every post and as each week passes I find my footing and voice a little more.

One of the things I have embraced this year (more than I ever thought I would) is the world of social media.  With a twitter and pinterest account I find that I am constantly making new connections and finding more and more things to inspire me.  Pinterest has been an incredible resource for concept images, ideas and suppliers and although I don't seem to devote as much time to it as I would like, I love how it is always growing and changing.  Today I thought I would include some photos of my favorite room - the kitchen!  There are some wonderful kitchens out there, and I truly think that the kitchen is the heart of a home. Seeing as we spend most of our time congregating there, it might as well be fabulous! I hope you all have a sunny day and remember...smile!

Happy Wednesday

I am thrilled that we have a three day week (Memorial day on Monday and then we have a friend’s wedding on Friday), which means that it is already the middle of the week! What a week it has been! I wanted to share with you all my favorite pin of the moment.  It came to me from a Design Sponge Before & After post and I am just in heaven.  I love the simplicity of the image – Carrara  marble subway tiles and shower fitting – and the soft light that comes in is just perfection.  This is a truly elegant image and has been giving me great inspiration. I hope it does the same for you!

Spring is in the Air

Hello everyone, I hope you are having a wonderful weekend.  The sun has been shining here in Manhattan and we have really enjoyed spending the weekend out and about in the city.  I wanted to share some of my latest pins for spring with you.  As the weather is getting warmer and the sun shines brighter I think of spring herbs, cottage life, bringing the outdoors in and bright fresh interiors.

Hope you all enjoy and you can find all these images through my pinterest account here.

Happy Monday all.  I hope you had a wonderful weekend and that any Passover and Easter celebrations were full of family, friends and food! We drove up to Toronto for the weekend to spend a quick 36 hours with our families and friends celebrating the holidays.  It was a great weekend and now we're back to the reality of Manhattan and work.

I am excited to say that on Friday I was invited by my long-time friend Katrina to contribute a guest post on her wonderful blog Dot Dot Dash. I posted on my latest inspiration so head over and take a look.  A huge thanks Kat for having me on her incredibly inspiring blog!

It has been a little while since I shared some of my Pinterest images and so I thought I would post my favorite ones of late.

Hope you all have a wonderful week and I would love to hear what you got up to for the weekend.
